Q&A with Kelly...

When is your birthday?  August 24th

Born?  Under a bad sign?

What's your hometown?  Batavia, Ohio - About 30 miles outside of Cincinnati, but I live in Temecula, California now! Quite the leap.

Who are your major musical influences?  I want to have a voice like Ann Wilson, stage presence like Gwen Stefani, the range of Kelly Clarkson, the longevity of Loretta Lynn, the rocker chick cool of Lita Ford, the courageous style of Taylor Momsen, the spunk of Haley Williams, the unique vocal nuances of Amy Lee, the musicality of Led Zeppelin, the songwriting skills of Patty Griffin or Ben Gibbard - I'm a big ole mess, but I'm me...appreciating everything.

What was the first album you owned?  Michael Jackson's "Thriller" - It was the first cassette tape I actually went and bought with my own money.  It was kind of a big deal.  But I was too scared to listen to "Thriller"  so I use to fast forward through that song a lot.  Wuss.

Your first rock concert?  New Kids on the Block.  Shut up.  It was my cousin's birthday and I was forced to go against my will.

Your first band?  Garage Sale Monsters.  That's where I really "Cut my chops" so to speak.  But I used to play acoustic and sing to my kids, pets and bedroom walls.

Your most memorable gig?  There was one gig with my old band where it was cold as hell outside (for Southern California) and nobody showed, but there were these 3 drunk guys having the time of their lives and we were improvising blues songs about their friends.  They declared us " The best band EVER"...But they haven't heard Hotwired, yet.

What would be your dream tour?  I love traveling and raising hell.  And I love too many artists to name my dream tour.  My dream tour is just a bunch of musicians without an ego problem to be found supporting each other harmoniously bringing music to the world.

What's your favorite Hotwired song?  "I Never Loved You Anyway" - Because I relate with the in-the-moment angst.  Play this song while breaking stuff.  You'll feel better...and it's cheaper than a therapist!

And your favorite song to play live?  Being the newest member of "Hotwired," that's going to take some time to figure out.  Anything that allows me to have fun with the crowd.  You're "My people" if you dance with me like you don't care! (=

What's your worst Spinal Tap moment?  My whole last band was one big Spinal Tap moment.  We had fun!  But it was constant hilarity.  And always cranked to 11.

What's your favorite sport/sports team?  That Bengals/Steelers game the year before last broke my heart.  My first broken Bengals heart was courtesy of Superbowl 1989.  I still hate Jerry Rice.  I'm going to turn into Ray Finkel's mom in "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective"..."Have a cookie dear, and Jerry Rice can burn in hell!" I'm kidding.  I get into sports intermittently.

Favorite movie(s)?  "That Thing You Do," "Sliding Doors," "My Best Friend's Wedding," "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," "Mr. Nobody," "Drop Dead Gorgeous," "The Jerk," "Splash," "Coal Miner's Daughter," "August Rush," "The Wolf of Wall Street," "The Big Short," "Great Expectations," "Dazed and Confused," "Empire Records," "Almost Famous," "The family Man"

Favorite TV Show(s)?  I'm so hooked on this Korean drama called "White Nights" right now.  "How I Met Your Mother," "So You Think You Can Dance"...I don't really watch much TV these days.

Favorite Actor/Actress?  Tom Hanks, Steve Martin - These guys were from the golden Age of Hollywood when I was growing up.  They're still amazing.  Nothing these men can't do.  I love Kate Hudson, Sandra Bullock - Just people who seem like they'd be cool in reality.

Favorite Restaurant?  "Arin Krin" in Okinawa, Japan

Favorite pig-out food?  Peanut butter M&Ms, French fries

Favorite color(s)?
It depends.  Am I wearing it?  Decorating with it?  Red and black is a good combo...

Favorite article of clothing?
I just got this teal shirt that makes my eyes look wicked blue...But I love my various friends' bands t-shirts and wear them ALL the time!

Favorite Vacation Spot?  Thailand was fun!  Ireland's people were amazing!  But I think I'm yet to go on my FAVORITE vacation of all time.  It's got to be somewhere with white, sandy beaches.

What was your worst job ever?  HOA Community Manager.  Dude.  I've worked as a Hooter's waitress (on a bet. It's a long story!), a flight attendant, a million really odd jobs - but this was the worst.  I guess I love freedom and hate rules a little too much...so hell is being put in a place where you have to enforce rules on good people or watch people about to lose their homes over unpaid HOA dues.  I had to take people to small claims court over fines on palm trees that were not trimmed.  Ugh.

Who was your first crush?  I was soooo boy crazy.  I had a new crush every week.

What's the worst date you've ever been on?
This guy named Kevin (not my fiance).  He said he broke his arm so he asked if I could pick him up.  I went to his house.  He lived with his mom and dad.  He left me downstairs talking to them for half an hour before he was ready.  I found out he didn't even own a car from his parents.  He wanted to go to a club.  He "forgot" his wallet to pay the cover charge, but miraculously had his license on him.  I got his cover.  Then he had the nerve to turn to me and ask me to buy him drinks.  I said, "No" and told him it was time to leave.  He asked me to stop at a local 24-hr breakfast place because he was hungry.  I bought myself a plate of fries and a Coke.  He ordered a huge meal with eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.  When he went to the bathroom after flirting with a waitress he said he knew, I gave the waitress cash for my food and ditched him.

What's your perfect/ideal date?  My dude is a master at this.  He booked us a hotel room on the ocean in Newport Beach, took me out for a nice dinner and then a concert.  He also surprised me once and got us a cabin up in Big Bear.  He should give lessons.

What do you like to do in your spare time?  I browse Facebook and hate myself for it.  I'm a master at trolling and being sarcastic.  Nobody gets my humor.

If you were stranded on an island and could only listen to one album, what would it be?  Glass Animals - Zaba, I don't care if it's not "rock & roll" - It's bitchin' jungle music!

If you made a movie, what it would be about?  I have no clue, but it would have the best soundtrack ever. Probably something about how fate leads us to where we are supposed to be, everything happens for a reason, maybe something based in reality.

Who would you count on to rob a bank with you? Why?  The band.  They've got that "You never know..." thing about them.  And my fiance, Kevin.  He's crazy like that.

If you could be anyone for a day, who it would be?  Margot Robbie.  I'd want to wake up knowing what it's like being so heartbreakingly beautiful.

If you could create your own rock and roll heaven for when you die, what would it be like?  Begin with St. Peter leading me through all these bad ass rock legends that have gone before us...and at the end, under a willow tree, there would be this bench with my dad (a rockabilly guitarist who died when I was 7). And he'd probably chew my ass about all my screw-ups for a few minutes and then hug me and we'd both cry and spend a whole heaven-day getting to know each other.  And then a band of talented angels would appear...and we'd jam for hours perfect note for perfect note.

Kelly: The perfect blend of talent, charisma, and charm. Oh, and in case you didn't know, she puts the "Hot" in Hotwired!
